DC-S Practice Profession & Reflective Practices & Supervision
A Word about the Demand-Control Schema:
Exposure and knowledge of DC-S has become more wide-spread in recent years. Many working interpreters learn of it through a once offered workshop, working with students of interpreting training programs or through mentorship with recent interpreter graduates. In this way, the potential exists for DC-S to be portrayed in limited fashion through sole discussions of demand and control identification or in general overviews. In this light, the greater value of ethical decision making and reflection of such can be absent. True appreciation of its application can only be achieved through continued and meaningful study of DC-S or experienced through the use of Reflective Practices through DC-S Supervision. Current opportunities to participate in DC-S Supervision can be through email advertisement of online groups or through established interpreter groups who use it as part of their interpreting practice. If you are interested in learning more, please email the website author. Feel free to also contact Robyn Dean or Amanda Smith directly for additional learning, DC-S workshop offerings, or recommended facilitators and opportunities of DC-S Supervision. For more information on Supervision and Supervision facilitation please visit the IIRAS (Interpreting Institute for Reflection-in-Action & Supervision) website or join the IIRAS Facebook page.
