Demand Control-Schema as an Ethical Tool
Why the Demand-Control Schema?
Robyn K. Dean & Robert Q. Pollard's Demand-Control Schema (DC-S) and Reflective Supervision is our interpreting profession's only available method to effectively evaluate the efficacy of our interpreting decisions, as well as whether those choices are ethical. DC-S is commonly utilized within interpreter training programs, however introduction and exposure of the value of its use for working interpreters vary. Interpreters may be introduced s through one-time offered workshops, through working with students of interpreting training programs or through mentorship with recent interpreter graduates. Comprehensive learning and development opportunities which ntegrate within one's interpreting practice require continued and meaningful examination of the principles.
For current offerings for DC-S Supervision opportunities, please contact Robyn Dean and Amanda Smith at the Institute for Reflection-in-Action & Supervision (IIRAS). You may also join their FaceBook group page. Quicklinks provided below.
